A collaborative project with Dr. Supriya Varma, Associate Professor, Centre for Historical Studies, School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
The project is working towards writing up the results of the excavations undertaken at Indor Khera in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh. Indor Khera, a site that has been occupied for almost 2500 years, gave significant evidence for potters working in household contexts. Indor Khera began as a village that developed into a town, with a short urban history, which in turn relapsed into a rural existence that still continues till date. This site was explored and excavated over a period of five years, which resulted in a mass of data in the form of artefacts and ceramics. Following detailed documentation, the material is being contextually analyzed to enable a more fruitful understanding of past activities. The project also aims to create a digitized archive of the collected data.
