
The Center in collaboration with the IRD (French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development) and the IFP (French Institute of Pondicherry) conducted a Workshop on Using Geospatial Technologies for Research on Past Society and Environment in the Archaeology Laboratory, Shiv Nadar University, on 15th and 16th February 2020. The Workshop was conducted by Dr Anne Casile, Archaeologist from the IRD and then at the IFP and Dr Nicolas Morelle of the IFP. The objective of the short training workshop was to provide a broad introduction to basics and the principles of GIS. The practical work made use of QGIS and satellite images, focusing on the area of Mandu in Madhya Pradesh, where Anne Casile and Supriya Varma of Jawaharlal Nehru University are currently undertaking a joint archaeological project.
