Special Issue on Archaeologies of the Medieval in South Asia

In November 2021, along with Dr. Mudit Trivedi, and Dr. Supriya Varma, Dr. Hemanth Kadambi co-edited a special issue of The Medieval History Journal 24 (1-2) titled ‘Archaeologies of the Medieval in South Asia’.

The editors invite a conversation regarding the different imaginaries of the South Asian Medieval and Early Modern, among Historians and Archaeologists. The collection of seven research articles (including one by Dr. Kadambi*) is a unique publication endeavour that highlights the diverse foci for archaeologists of the medieval period with questions that are different from those of the historians of the medieval.

The publication is an outcome of an international conference held at the Annual Conference on South Asia hosted by the University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA in 2019.
